Managed Networking

Contego’s Managed Networking lowers the cost and burden of maintaining a stable network.  We have been providing managed Networking / Firewall for the past 10 years.  Our model is to supplement corporate IT staffs in fractional manner, covering areas of expertise where it does not make financial sense to bring on a full time employee.   Our service is more than just staff augmentation.  We approach each customer with a combination of knowledgeable people, management tools and extended hours coverage.  Our customers span many verticals but we have had a lot of success in the hospitality and financial industries.  For example we currently manage a 45 site location managing all layer 2/3 Cisco and Juniper devices offering the following:

  1. CPE Hardware
    • Contego manages the replacement of the End User’s CPE hardware. Contego notifies Customer and the End User of the outage and works with Customer to restore the configuration to the device when supported.
    • Contego performs Configuration backups on all managed devices that support it
    • Contego monitors hardware level events (e.g. CPU Usage)
  2. CPE Software
    • Contego performs monthly version check
    • Contego performs required CPE Software updates (if applicable or recommended by the Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM))
  3. Administration/Security
    • Contego manages the following administration/security requests.
      • Manage all rule/ACL requests
      • Manage all routing change requests
      • Manage Network address translation
      • Manage LAN-to-LAN VPN creation and changes
      • Manage Remote User VPN creation and changes
    • Network
      • Monitor network outages related to the Service Provider
      • Contact the Service Provider to open a ticket to resolve any loss of service issues
      • Monitor network outages related to issues with corresponding network hardware (i.e. the Firewall’s NICs)
    • Logs
      • Contego receives and stores all security related event logs for 72 hours for troubleshooting issues

Contego Managed Networking reduces the cost to design, monitor and maintain your network equipment allowing our customers to focus their personnel time towards more impactful projects.  Contego will monitor each of the network devices for availability and problems 24x7x365. In the event of an outage an alert will be sent to Contego’s NOC allowing our engineers to respond immediately. Contego’s monitoring also keeps usage and availability statistics that help our customers forecast growth and monitor ISPs with their service credits.

Monitoring is only a small part of “managing” a device. Contego will also update your equipment with the latest security patches and software updates as they become available as well as manage your service contracts. Every night Contego will backup the configuration of your device. This will reduce actual downtime in the event of a total device failure.
